Introduction

Hello and welcome to Of Iron and Yarn!
This blog will cover, but is not limited to, two areas of craft: fiber arts and metal working. I have been crocheting since 2011; and in 2016 I fell headfirst into the wonderful (and sometimes odd) world of fiber art. In 2014, I started working in my father's shop, initially learning bladesmithing, but later discovered a love for blacksmithing. I have learned a lot since my first sad little scarf, crooked knife, and wobbly S hook.
My hope is to share my experience and what I'll learn in the future with the rest of the crafting community and anyone who enjoys the crafty and quirky. Please join me as I learn, discover new techniques, and get distracted by all sorts of new projects.

  1. I am super excited about this blog. I love all things artistic and I recently got sucked into the wonderful world of needle felting. I don't know if it falls under the umbrella of fiber arts but it is pretty interesting and maybe it will make it to your blog as well.

    1. It totally falls under fiber arts! I tried it once before, and it failed pretty bad. But I just started it again and its working much better this time. Once I have a better understanding of the subject I plan to write about it. It shouldn't be too long now!

  2. I'm always looking to start new hobbies and side projects, so I look forward to this blog! It might not be for me, but watching someone learn and grow better at something they are passionate about will be fun and enjoyable.
